The client faced significant operational disruptions due to manual tracking systems for heavy machinery and critical spares. Key pain points included costly downtime from misplaced equipment, inventory mismanagement leading to stockouts or overstocking, and safety risks associated with the unauthorised movement of machinery into restricted or hazardous zones.
COOi Studios designed a specialized IoT solution integrating intrinsically safe RFID tags and network readers with the client’s existing infrastructure. The system utilized virtual geofencing to create digital "no-go" zones and an automated monitoring platform for real-time visibility. The solution was architected to transmit sensor data through secure gateways (such as Cisco) to an IoT management platform (Azure/AWS) for advanced processing and automated tampering alerts.

The PoC established a robust framework for reducing equipment recovery time and maintenance costs by detecting early signs of malfunction.
By automating asset classification and providing instant security alerts for unauthorized relocation, the system enhanced both operational efficiency and safety compliance.
This data-driven approach provided the client with the high-fidelity visibility needed to optimize inventory levels and eliminate manual tracking errors.
