COOi Studios developed a comprehensive Innovation Enablement Strategy for the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) Techno Hub. The strategy repositions the Techno Hub to support technology-intensive enterprise development aligned with local economic priorities and national programmes such as Operation Phakisa. The phased roadmap focuses first on enhancing existing industry capabilities, then on building new sectors such as the ocean, green, and digital economies.
The Techno Hub lacked a clear strategic roadmap and organisational design to serve as a hub for innovation in priority sectors like the ocean economy, green economy, and digital industries.
A phased strategy roadmap was developed, including capability zones (research, engineering, financing), collaboration models, branding, governance frameworks, and stakeholder alignment plans.
