The Role

The Finance Analyst is an entry-level role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. This role focuses on learning COOi tools and methodologies, assisting with bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax preparation and compliance, while developing foundational analytical and consulting capabilities within a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Transaction Recording: Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions and assist in maintaining general ledger entries.
  • Filing and Documentation: Help collect, organise and file supporting documents such as invoices, receipts and bank statements.
  • Invoicing Support: Assist with preparing and sending invoices and updating records of accounts receivable.
  • Bookkeeping Assistance: Support the reconciliation of accounts, assist with maintaining an accurate cash position, and prepare basic balance summaries.
  • Payroll and Tax Support: Help review payroll inputs for accuracy and assist in preparing monthly PAYE, VAT and other statutory tax payments.
  • Financial Process Support: Work with senior colleagues to streamline record-keeping processes and improve accuracy across financial operations.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with internal teams to collect information for monthly reports and budgeting inputs.

Monthly Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting Assistance: Contribute to preparing monthly reports by compiling data under the guidance of the Senior Analyst or Finance Manager.
  • Budget and Cash Flow Monitoring: Assist in updating simple budget trackers and summarising key changes or variances for review.
  • Compliance Administration: Support recordkeeping and administrative tasks related to compliance requirements, such as COIDA, BBBEE, or tax documentation.

Quarterly Responsibilities

  • Data Gathering: Collect and compile data for quarterly financial reviews and support reconciliation activities.
  • Assist in Payroll Reports Review: Help check that relevant payroll reports align with approved payments and tax submissions.

Annual Responsibilities (Under Supervision)

  • Support Financial Statements Prep: Assist the Senior Analyst or Accountant in gathering and verifying data needed for year-end financial reports.
  • Regulatory Filing Support: Help compile documentation for year-end submissions and returns under supervision.
  • Year-End Review Assistance: Provide support in reviewing trends in spending, income, and tax for the year under senior guidance.

Technology and Systems Support

  • Assist with data entry and documentation of company IT assets, including basic hardware and software tracking.
  • Help update inventory and licensing records under guidance from the Operations or IT team.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field (or currently completing studies)
  • Some experience through internships or part-time work in a finance or administration role is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic accounting principles
